Coastal Deck Makeover – Jessica Sara MorrisNisan 18, 2021
This week on Vancouver Island we got the best present – warmth and sunshine. We decided to take full advantage of the heat and on Wednesday we started prep our deck by washing so we could start repainting the wooden deck. While we’ve done a renovation on this deck every three years we’ve lived here, it’s more like a coastal deck renovation.
First thing first is the paint we used on our deck Dorian Gray by Sherwin Williams. We used their body paint called Super deck.
With our deck rotting and holding on to the last strings, we didn’t strip the existing paint off as it would have been a lot of work in vain.
As the pavement is rotting, the panel we put in two years ago is not entirely straight. It’s so hard – if it were our home, we would have loved to have built a deck from scratch. But we just don’t want to put that much money into rent.
Since our house is very small, we always make it our second living room in the warmer months. We love hanging out on our deck, eating in our yard and watching the kids play in the pool.
Not sure how long this beige rug will last with four little people, but it’s beautiful in the photos – haha!
Unfortunately, I can’t link the rug because I can’t find it. We got it last year and have been storing it since last fall.
I love our rework of the coastal deck. It is our little tropical oasis during the madmen we now call our world.
Just as I was finished taking photos of the deck, the kids and the neighborhood kids came over to roast s’mores over the fire. I still haven’t checked if my carpet made it alive.
I would love to hear what you think of our coastal deck overhaul!
