7 ways to decorate a small bathroomMart 22, 2021
We have been fortunate enough to live in our cute little bungalow for the past three years. We rent out so there’s not much we can do with our house. But we have managed to make our home ours and integrate our style into our home. Since we’ve just freshened up the room, I wanted to talk about 7 ways to decorate a bathroom that you won’t love.
Whether you live in a rental property or can’t afford to swap out lights, vanity, and walls, here are some tips and tricks for designers to keep a room looking beautiful without breaking the bank.
7 ways to decorate a small bathroom
- Add a new mirror
We recently made our own beautiful, mimicking, glossy primrose mirror. You can find the blog Here. It was such an inexpensive way to bring our personality into our small bathroom, and it cost less than fifty dollars for the entire project!
2. Add art
Art doesn’t have to be expensive. We saved all the art you see in our bathroom. The total cost for all four pieces was under thirty dollars. You can easily upcycle a frame by spray painting it and swapping out the art. I like to use command strips to tape it to the wall so you can forego nail holes!
3. Add a low pile rug
I know, I know, bathroom carpets … new. But remember to add a low pile rug that you can toss in the laundry. I recently bought this rug and it’s low enough to fit in the laundry and hang out to dry.
There are quite a few of these low pile rugs out there and I’ve linked my favorites below.
4. Change the lighting
Below are tons of inexpensive lighting to add to your bathroom. Think outside the box, your lighting doesn’t have to be traditional bathroom lighting.
5. Paint your vanity
Before moving into our landlord, we updated this gorgeous master bathroom. Unfortunately the finish of the vanity they bought was starting to wear off so I decided to paint it and it made this vanity look brand new!
When painting a vanity, make sure you use an appropriate paint job that can handle moisture and seal it!
I have this vanity in “sketch” from Sico colors.
6. Add flowers
Adding artificial or real flowers can add so much texture to your bathroom. Especially if you can’t paint, it’s an easy way to add color to a room.
We picked up the above artificial hydrangeas from Homesense Canada for 5.99 per stem.
7. Add a decorative towel rail
I’m sure most of us have the usual ugly towel rails in our bathrooms. Try changing things up and adding metal or wooden hooks to give your space a more modern look.
